Known from the rivers Ruindi (Ref. 51686, 41590), Semliki and Lunyasenge River (Ref. 47905). In the Lukuga River (Lake Tanganyika outflow), known from the Kisimba-Kilia rapids (Ref. 93587). Considered one of the main predators in Lake Edward; mostly caught with bottom-set gill nets (Ref. 13302). Second most important food fish in the Zairean fisheries of Lake Edward (= Lake Idi Amin), where total annual production in 1988 (for Zaire only) was estimated at 1,600 t (Ref. 13302).
